      Historia

Arthur (Art) Edward Ridley was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on November 24, 1938 and moved to Regina in 1942. He attended Herchmer Elementary School and Scott Collegiate where he was an outstanding athlete. Attending Regina College from 1958 to 1960, Arthur was a third year arts student when he was killed in a highway car crash on his way home for Thanksgiving in October, 1960.

In high school he was active in sports such as Track and Field, establishing the 1955 provincial record for the junior boys mile, he was a charter member of the Order of DeMolay, a Freemasonary organization for boys and young men. Ridley was co-winner of the 1957 Forbes trophy at Scott collegiate where the Art Ridley Memorial Trophy was later named for him. This trophy, which was to be given to the outstanding male athlete in the senior class was “still very active” in 1989, but has since disappeared.
