Elizabeth (Bette) Storin has made books and writing a part of her life, at age 11 Bette won an essay competition with the Toronto City Daily which included publication and prize money. For 3 years she worked in the Children’s Division of the Toronto Public Library. In 1970 Bette and her family moved to British Columbia where she started a day care centre and took courses at Camosun College in Victoria earning a Certificate in Early Childhood Development. She organized and ran for 10 years her own pre school for 18 children.
Bette Storin has contributed to the Xerox Weekly Reader, Highlights for Children, Jack and Jill, Country Guide, the Western Producer, Vancouver Sun and many other Canadian and American publications. She has also been published in trade magazines such as Milk Salesman in Pittsburg, and the Chicago Milk Plant Monthly.
Her children’s book The Dreadful Dragon of Dismal Rock is published by Borealis Press.
Bette Storin was a prolific writer, 36 of her short stories have been broadcast on the CBC’s “John Drainie Short Story Program” and the “Bernie Braden Short Story Program”, her stories have also been narrated by personalities such as Don Harron and Nonie Griffin.
