Sejarah Biografi

Marilyn (Lyn) Roberta Goldman was born in Regina in December 1932. She attended Central Collegiate and went to Queen’s University, leaving in 1954 to work in television production in Toronto. Some years later, she continued her studies and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in English from the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus in 1974 and a Master of Arts degree in English from the University of Regina in 1980.

From Toronto, she moved to Los Angeles and worked at Columbia Pictures as a secretary, following which she was a film booker for a chain of drive-in theatres. In 1958 she returned to Regina and began work at CKCK television as a writer-producer but left again in 1962 to become a freelance television producer in Toronto. Returning to Regina, Goldman began work at the Saskatchewan Jubilee & Centennial Corporation as the Performing Arts Officer and in 1968 was appointed Director of Publicity and Information at the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus. After coordinating the work on the Feasibility Study for the School of Journalism and Communications, she moved to University of Regina Extension as the Communications and Programming Officer and then as Acting Head of Fine Arts and Humanities from 1979 to 1981. From 1981 to 1985 Lyn worked as the Public Relations Director for the University of Regina and returned to University Extension as Head of Certificate Programs until she retired in 1990.

Lyn was also a freelance commentator on CBC Radio for 15 years, and from 1979 to 1980 hosted CKCK Radio’s program, “This Sunday.” She served on the founding board of directors of Cable Regina and served on the City of Regina's Arts Policy Committee and Commission from 1978 to 1981. Lyn has been a long-time accredited member of the Canadian Public Relations Society and remains active in many of the city’s arts and culture organizations, among them: Regina Little Theatre, Regina Women's Network, the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild, and the Saskatchewan Arts Board and is also a member of the Canadian Club of Regina devoting much of her time between September and May to this organization.

In 1982 she received an award from the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) in the business and professional category, and has received both the Queen’s Golden Jubilee and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medals, among other awards. She received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Regina in 2015.

Although retired from the University of Regina, Lyn’s affiliations with the institution are still manifold. She has been a member of the Scholarship Committee and the Social Committee for the Academic and Administrative Pensioners Association, and meanwhile, continues to raise funds, support and to promote the University tirelessly.

Dr. Lyn Goldman died on January 13, 2026, in Regina, Canada, at the age of 93.
