    Algemene aantekening

Description written on paper with photograph: "Mountain #1" embodies the most characteristic features of the previous works; the simultaneous depiction of both the inside and the outside, the contrast between the glazed and painted tiles on the surface and the unglazed clays, colored by metallic oxides, below, and the formal treatment of the subject as a geometric study. Like "A Slice of Life", "Mountain" is a form of three-dimensional mosaic, the tiles and blocks being fastened to a shaped wooden substructure. This technique allows the construction of sculptures the size of which are limited only by one's physical energy and imagination.
