Biografie
Robert (Bob) Agnew was born in 1932 to William Edward Agnew and Evelyn Maud Morson. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1953 and a Master of Science in 1955, both from Dalhousie University. He obtained a Ph.D. from Cambridge in 1959. Agnew joined the staff at the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus in 1958 for a 30 year career, starting as a Sessional Lecturer (1958-1964), then an Assistant Professor (1964-1969), and finally Associate Professor. He was instrumental in designing the Microbiology Complex in the Laboratory Building at the University of Regina.
Dr. Agnew served as acting Head of the Department of Biology from June-December, 1980, and then again between 1981 and 1986. He retired to Saltspring Island in 1988 and passed away in 1995.
The Dr. Robert M. Agnew Memorial Award was established in his memory and is awarded to a graduating Biology major with the highest average in biology courses.
