This small accession is comprised of personal writing by Florida May Robins (Arnold) (Sutcliffe). “The Trip West” was written in 1956 and details the family’s decision to move west from Ontario in 1899 to settle at Weyburn. Also included is number 123 of a limited edition publication of 500, for Margaret Fulton (nee. Beatty) Frame’s publication, “Phantom Caravan.” This is a numbered and signed copy, “To Gladys Arnold, with kindest remembrances and every good wish,
Margaret Frame” which was published in 1947.

This collection contains an eclectic group of paper donated by Saskatchewan writers and journalists. Joan Givner, Lynn Harrington, Ross Monroe, Eleanor Wright Pelrine, Maggie Siggins, William Stevenson, and Tom White all have papers in this collection covering people and topics as diverse as Katherine Anne Porter, Sir William Stephenson, John Bassett, Henry Morgetaler, the Canadian Authors Association, and the Saskatchewan Cougar. None of the contributors have donated all their papers; rather, most of them have given all of the papers connected with one of their projects. Substantial material has come from William Stevenson, but even there only the rough work and drafts for three of his books are present. The collection was put together by Ron Robbins, former head of the Journalism program at the
University of Regina, and is intended to serve as a research base for students in the program.

This collection contains research materials and writings of Maggie Siggins for the book: A Canadian Tragedy, JoAnne and Colin Thatcher: A Story of Love and Hate (Toronto: McMillan of Canada, 1985). The collection contains: drafts; biographical and extensive other research materials; a complete record of court transcripts, affidavits, judgments, etc. from both custody and divorce proceedings and from the murder trial in 1984; and numerous taped interviews with key individuals. The research files give insights into the personal Thatcher drama as well as into politics in Saskatchewan from about 1950 to 1984.
